The best sci-fi film in years... - The Matrix Reviews
The Matrix is by far one of the best science fiction films ever made. Written and directed by the Wachowski brothers, this post-apocalyptic story gives a look inside what we consider real and what we consider unreal. The first film, in my opinion, is the best. And it always will be.
The story offers us a mind-bending concept, in which machines have tooken over the real world and trapped us in an elaborate simulation. It offers many ideas, new ideas, and updated ideas. But all of them work in the story. The film has many hidden biblical references and ones from mythology.
The acting was great, starring Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Ann Moss, and Laurence Fishburne. All of them bring us a great performance. Especially Fishburne who plays the enigmatic Morpheus. Great actors for great movies.
Andy and Larry Wachowski did the best job they could for this film, and their best is excellent! Never have I seen a film with so many hidden meanings and interesting concepts. In this film almost every character has a name that can be found in the dictionary, and it will always have some relevance to the character or mythology.
And of course the special effects. Magnifecent visuals. If you have already seen this film you are likely to have noticed the effects. This film has pioneered the term "bullet time", which by now is known to the public as the slow motion effects scenes that viewers have seen in all three films. Great effects for a great film.
Overall this is a film I would reccomend to anyone. See it for the effects, see it for the story, see it for the philosophical mentionings, but just see it!
